THE TAKAPAU CAMP.
DANNUVIRKE, April 27. The territorial encampment at Takapau, which, when properly under weigh, will be the biggest yet held in the Dominion, commenced on Sunday, when men from all parts of the Wellington defence district, about 4000, arrived by 10 special trains, the last contingent from the Main Trunk reaching Takapau late at night. The transport was carried out without a hitch. The men had a depressing introduction to their future home for a fortnight as it was raining practically the whole of Sunday and well into the night. To day the weather is fine. On Friday next the camp will be supplemented by an additional 2000 men, and Sir lan Hamilton inspects them on the sth and 6th of May. One of the men engaged in Wellington as a camp cook was arrested on arrival helplessly drunk, and was remanded for a week for medical treatment. Liquor is totally prohibited within the precints of the camp.
If credit is a convenience, “The Dresden” will gladly extend the advantages of its popular and liberal time-payment system so that you will be able to turni«h your home with a piano. You me cly ray a oPiai : deposit and instalment.; of 20s a month, ox more. In no other warehouse in New Zealand — or in Australia, either-—are there so nm.iy pianos and organs undergone roof as at the Dresden Piano Company’s in Wellington. It is a wonderful stock to select from. Then, too, there can be no bargaining with The Dresden. Its first price is its last—and lowest. Thus, a child could purchase a piano just as advantageously ns could a man. This is the essence of fairness. No wonder “The Dresden” possesses the confidence of the public. The Company’s manager in the North Island is Mr M. J. Brookes.—Advt.
