SKATING.
Although the first flush of enthusiasm for the skating season has been spent, and the pent-up anticipation of au evening on the rollers realised, there is still maintained a good and consistent patronage at the Municipal Rink. The hilarious sensation of the rapid and almost ceaseless whirl of the rollers maintains au attraction for many patrons of past seasons, while there are to be seen fresh aspirants as masters of the art, whose dogged endeavours to retain a natural upright position lead them to perform curious and amusing contortions. The manager, Mr Leary, is devoting careful attention to the welfare of patrons, and no doubt as the season advances will introduce special attractions, both for spectators and skaters alike, in the form of competition or novelty evenings. As the winter advances the cold evenings may induce still larger attendances, for who can deny the fascination of linking, or its power of piomotiug health aud smiling faces ?
