"GO-TO-CHURCH” CAMPAIGN.

The “Go-to-Church” campaign in America has had some remarkable results, so that the promoters have been greatly encouraged. How long the effect will last is another thing. The British Weekly in summarising seme of the returns, says that iu Boston the attendance was increased in every instance. Some churches, of course, are always full, aud they were uot much affected. In some churches with a scanty attendance, however, the attendance was trebled. Perhaps it might be said that, on the whole, the attendance went up at least by onethird. In Chicago twice as many people went to church as attended ordinarily. The Chicago press gave the movement the widest publicity. One daily paper there gave two full pages each Monday to sermons preached iu Chicago aud elsewhere the day before. Strong aggressive efforts were made. The mails were largely used, aud some of the churches were furnished with beautiful electric signs. At Syracuse, N.Y.

the result of the campaign was a | church attendance in ihe city ct : 61,741, an estimated increase of j about 7000 for the dav. Some i churches were crowded to the door. At Brooklyn the reports show an increase in attendance ot as much as ioo per cent, in some instances.
