MUNICIPAL PICTURES; The programme for Saturday night as will be seen in our advertising columns promises to be of a first-class and attractive order. The star drama, ‘‘The Diamond Makers,” is a thrilling Rex drama crowded with perplexing, amazing and exciting episodes, being a detective story which grips the interest immediately and carries the spectator on a wave of emotion to the final denouement. The diamond maker, an Indian, sends to India for Sheidah to help him dis pose of his diamonds. A Kimberley employer engages Detective Westeslay to find out the source of the glut of diamonds on the market. He finds out who it is, aud then there is a chase after the gang. Detective gets worsted all the way until the end, when the diamond maker commits suicide. It is impossible to describe the incidents, there are so many following in succession. The other dramas are, “ The Medal ol Honour,” and ‘Tu the Elemental World.” The former is a fire brigade story of love and adventure being full of dramatic surprises and tense situations ; while the latter is a powerfully constructed A.B. drama, telling cf how lost and without food man and wife are left victims ot fate in the forest wilderness. What part dees the woman play ? The unwinding of the story is unusual, striking and absorbing. A beautifully coloured Gaumont scenic, “On the Banks of the Xerras,” is a veritable feast of beauty for the artistic eye ; while “Types of Caucausus,” is a contribution of educational and scenic value showing the race of people rarely seen in the British Isles. The comics are, “The Farmer Daughters,” “Spring Heel Jack,” and “Mr Pickwick and the Shooting Party.” The first is a new style comic by the splendid Thanhauser Co.; the second is a farcical onereel exposition dovetailed into a series of hearty laughs by the clever comedians of the Pathe studios ; while the third shows the Vitagraph players in broad comedy giving an exquisite production of a Dickens’ feature.
