SOLICITOR IN TROUBLE.

Dunedin, April 20,

John Crisp, the solicitor who was arrested at Hokitika last week, was charged at the Police Court this morning with forging a signature to a deed of mortgage.

Mr Fraser, K.C., for the Crown, applied for a remand till Friday, and asked that if bail were granted it should be for a substantial amount. Accused was alleged to have misappropriated Mr McGregor, for accused, offered no objection. He said Crisp was anxious to assist the Assignee in straightening out his affairs. Bail was fixed, accused in £SOO and two sureties of ,£250 each, conditional on accused reporting himself to the police station at 10 a.m. daily.
