BOY AND GIRD IN THE
SNOW
Led by a St. Bernard dog. a party of rescuers bound togelbc-r with long ropes to prevent their being lost in the blinding snowstorm, found Miss Lily Rohange and her brother Albert in the woods near Portsmouth, U.S.A., after a search of several hours recently. The St. Bernard, which belongs to the Rohange family, gave the alarm when Miss Rohange was overcome, and then took the rescuing party through the mazes of the woods to the spot where she and her brother, who had found her alone, were lying. Miss Rohange, who is twenty years old, started from home to get some milk at the home of a neighbour, and, becoming confused in the heavy snowfall, wandered into the woods. Her brother, after she had lailed to return in three hours, went after her and found her exhausted. The dog accompanied him and when he saw that the boy was exhausted with his effort to carry his sister ran back to the house three miles distant and gave the alarm.
The rescuers arrived to find the girl unconscious and the boy badly exhausted and frostbitten. They were carried back to the house on a sledge, and a physician was called to attend them and members of the party who suffered from cold. It was found that the girl was not seriously injured, despite the time she had spent in the snow, '.The boy entirely recovered alter ga hour’s treatment.
