BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the local Borough Council was held last night to consider Cr Speirs notice of motion re cancellation ot the engineer’s services, to receive the report ot the special committee who visited Taibape and Frankton to inspect the water schemes in those boroughs, which were engineered by Mr Suggate, and to consider a notice of motion by the Mayor that the proposed area for water aud drainage be reconsidered. All the Councillors were present, excepting Crs, Green aud Speirs, namely: The Mayor (G. H. Stiles Esq.), Crs. Chrystall, Geo. 0. Barber, Henderson, Read, Freeman, Geo. Whibley aud Geo. Coley. An apology for absence was received from Cr Speirs, Mr Suggate was also present at a later stage of the meeting. It was unanimously decided to lake the proceedings in committee, which lasted for over two hours. When the council resumed, Crs. Read aud Henderson gave notice of motion that the previous resolution passed on March 16th, 1914, defining the special area for the proposed water and drainage scheme be rescinded. Cr Barber moved aud Cr Henderson seconded, that the report of the committee which visited Taihape and Frankton, regarding Mr Suggate’s work in those places, is satisfactory to this Council and that the thanks of the Council are due to the Mayor and Crs. Coley and Chrystall for their report.
