ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Thames, April 7. Charles Bush, a fisherman, aged 27, was drowned while fishing in the Thames river yesterday. He was engaged cleaning nets when the dingy capsized. His mate saw Bush swimming to the launch, when he suddenly sank before assistance could reach him. Police parlies are dragging the river. Invercargill, April 6. Thomas Maltby, aged 18, clerk in the National Mortgage Company’s employ, suicided by hanging on Sunday afternoon. Deceased was studying for an accountancy examination, and the rash act is attributed to overstrain. Nelson, April 4. Ethel Hammond, aged 25, wile of K. Hammond, of Richmond, Nelson, committed suicide by taking poison on Saturday. She had been melancholy since recent child-birth. Masterton, April 6. Sidney Richard Mason, a single man, aged 30, was found dead at Gladstone this morning. He went shooting yesterday, and as he did not return last night a search was made. Auckland, April 6. Henry Jouniug, a married man employed by the City Council at the rubbish destructor, was jammed against the wall by the pole of a dray, and died iu a few minutes.
