An agreement on all but one of the points ui issue between tlio Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union (old union) and file Licensed Houses 'Workers’ Vnion (new union) on one hand and the .Licensed Victuallers’ Association on the other has been arrived at. The new union was ,swamped by members of the old union, who recently threw oil! the strike-breaking executive. installed oUlcers who repudiated, on legal grounds. the agreement made with the employers in December and cooperated with the old union in applying to the Arbitration Court for an award. The employers accepted the position with good grace and conferences were held with the result stated. The Arbitration Court was informed to-day that tin l only point now in dispute related to the six-day week. Mr .Justice Stringer said the Court intended taking the amendment to the Shops and Offices Act as mandatory, and was introducing a six-day week into all future awards relating to hotel and restaurant workers. This clears the way for a final settlement.
