NEW ZEALAND TITLE,

Christchurch, March 27

G. Hannan, who recently annexed the title of champion sculler of New Zealand by forfeiture from W. Fogvvell. has written to George Welch, the ex-champion New Zealand sculler, of Akaroa, asking for a match, and suggesting Auckland or Wanganui as the course on account of the gate, Welch, however, states he has definitely retired, besides which he lost all his boats and sculling gear in the recent fire at the Akaroa boating sheds.
