FLAXMILL ACCOMMODATION.
<* ALLEGED BREACH
At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, the Inspector of Factories proceeded against A. J. Gibbs for an alleged breach of the regulations governing the accommodation to be provided for flaxmill employees. The summons stated that the defendant having been served with a notice from the Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories (as prescribed by section xo of the Shearers and Agricultural Labourers Accommodation Act, 1908), calling upon him to provide accommodation for the flaxmill workers at his Papakiri mill as required by the regulations under the above mentioned Act as applying to flaxmill and sawmill workers, did fail to comply with the terms of such notice. The complainant therefore applied for such order under section 14 of ihe said Act as the Court deemed fit. Mr Bolland said defendant had informed him that he did not intend to oppose the application and would consent to an order being made. Since the notice had been served on defendant part of the work had been done and an order requiring the balance to be done was asked for.
The Magistrate ordered that the necessary work be completed on or before April 20th, 19x4, with costs 17s against defendant.
