The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, March 19, 1914. NOTES AND COMMENTS.

A rumour has been meutioned to us that the Hon. Mr Fisher will be subjected to some interruption at the political meeting to be addressed by him in the Town Hall on the 30th iust. We can quite believe that it would be possible to draw from outside quarters certain individuals of the Red brand who could make things unpleasant for any speaker, but no public man need fear hostility from a local audience. Mr Fisher comes to Foxton at the invitation ot local supporters of the Reform Party, and we are permitted to say that any person who seeks to create trouble at the meeting will be peremptorily dealt with. Foxton audiences are as well behaved as any in the Dominion, and we should regret to think that our reputation in this connection is to be marred by an organised system of rowdyism. We sincerely hope that the rumour is without foundation in fact, for no matter how much we may disagree with the policy of the Red Feds., we believe that there are many in their ranks who would not sanction such conduct. But after the disgraceful proceedings at Mr Fisher’s Wellington meeting, colour is given to the rumour.
