CATHOLIC BAZAAR.

TO BE OPENED TO-NIGHT,

The Catholic Bazaar, which is to extend over four days, will be opened at 7.30 o’clock to-night by His Worship the Mayor (Mr G. H. Stiles). All day those connected with the function have been busy at the hall getting everything in readiness and the bazaar promises to easily surpass anything in the same line that has yet been attempted locally. The plain and fancy stalls will be under the management of Mrs Dudson assisted by Miss Hennessy and Mrs Hooker assisted by Mrs Hynes, at which almost anything in these lines will be obtainable. There will also be a sweets stall (Mrs Jackson), produce stall (Mrs Duggan) and the refreshment room will be In the capable bauds of Mrs Richmond and a staff of assistants.

The amusements will be many and varied and those present should not have a dull moment. The siege of Paukhurst Castle, an importation from the well-known American “Coney Island” collection should be a popular pasttime. Other games include: Hoopla, Aunt Sally, Quoits, etc., etc.

The articles to be disposed of include many beautiful paintings, drawings and other works of art. There are several very fine pieces of carved furniture on exhibition, including a massive wardrobe, a mirror-backed sideboard, fine ball stand and Morris chair. A particularly fine handpainted fire-screen is also on view. During the evenings a number of vocal Items will be rendered, the well-known New Zealand singer, Miss Segrief, being a visitor to Eoxton for this express purpose. Items will also be given by the Convent School children. A first-class orchestra will also render selections every evening. Altogether, the function promises to be a pronounced success, and a pleasant time is promised all who attend.
