THE WHARF PURCHASE QUESTION.

MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS CONFERS WITH MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. NEGOTIATIONS NO FURTHER FORWARD. The Hon. W. H. Herries, Minister for Railways, accompanied bv Mr J. Robertson M.P., visited Foxtou this morning in connection with the proposed purchase of the wharf by the Foxtou Harbour Board. On arrival he was met by Messrs P. Hennessy (chairman of the Harbour Board), G. H. Stiles (Mayor) and F. E. Jenks (member of the Board). The Minister conferred privately with the Board members and the member for the district on the question, but as a result of same very little headway was made in the negotiations. The Minister made certain suggestions and these will be considered at a meeting of the Board to be held at an early date. The Minister left by motor car this afternoon for Levin.
