Bates wires today as follows: — The indications are for variable and strong breezes, but southerly moderate to strong winds prevailing, and backing by west to north; weather probably cool and changeable, with passing showers. Barometer rising, but falling after about 24 to 36 hours. Sea rough, tides moderate.
