THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner cabled at noon yesterday as follows The Manila hemp market is very depressed, prices have declined; consumers holding off, spot hemp is neglected. Fair current near positions, 53; distant positions, ,£27 los ; output for the week, 21,000 bales. The New Zealand market continues dull. Good fair, ,£25 ss; fair, these quotations are nominal ; February-April good fair, ,£25 15s; fair, ss. The tow market is steady, moderate demand. Second grade, .£l2 ; third grade, /,n to j£ii 5s on spot. The sisal market is steady at previous quotations.
