CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir.— l was surprised to read an advertisement in your paper stating that the Borough Council had let the hall on a Wednesday night to the local Catholics lor the holding of a bazaar. I congratulate our Catholic friends on being able to accomplish something which myself and others failed to do. The late Town Clerk (Mr Fraser) made it clear that the Council would not give up its picture show nights (Wednesdays and Saturdays) to any institution, no matter how deserving and I know of three institutions, to say nothing of professional people, who have been refused the hire of the hall on Wednesdays. I am pleased to know that the Council’s rules governing the letting of the hall are not unalterable and that other institutions will, in future, be allowed to hire the hall on Wednesday nights. Thanking you in anticipation.'—l am, etc.,

Sir, —I have read that imitation is the sinCerest form of flattery, and here is a case in point. Some time ago, and during the present warm weather, a fine-looking Maori youth set the “bare neck” fashion in Foxton. He discarded a tie, and unbuttoned his shirt front, exposing the upper portion of his chest. Tittle did he know, as he paraded Main Street, that several pairs of youthful green eyes were upon him, and next evening several young sparks appeared to the public gaze with shirts unbuttoned and upper chests exposed, and so the fashion has grown. Seeing that the new style has takeu on, I would suggest that, during the warm season, our young bloods finish the job by appearing in bare legs and shorts ! —Yours etc,,
