DECEMBER GRADING RETURNS,

HEMP, The total number of bales of

hemp graded was 14,496, as compared with 13,541 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 955 bales. For the twelve months ending 31st December, 1913, the number of bales graded was 169,419, as compared with 99,922 for the previous twelve months, the increase being 69,497 bales. The number graded at each port was; —Wellington 5,212, Foxton 3,170, Auckland 2,678, Bluff 2,218, Dunedin 333, Picton 300, Blenheim 267, Napier 263, Lyttelton 55. The following are the details of the grades;—

There were 58 bales graded fine at Wellington 126 at Picton, and 55 at Lyttelton. Twelve bales at Auckland, 12 at Foxton, and 5 at Wellington were rejected. TOW. During the mouth, 4,706 bales were dealt with, as compared with 5,331 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 625

bales. For the twelve months ending 31st December, 1913, the number of bales graded was 57,606, as compared with 31,768 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 25,838 bales.

Five bales at Dunedin, 134 at Auckland, 28 at Wellington, and 86 at Bluff were condemned. STRIPPER-SUPS. Passed for export; Auckland, 30 ; Foxton, 650 ; Wellington, 192 ; Bluff, 5 ; total, 877. Condemned : Foxton, 51 ; Wellington, 7 ; Bluff, 15 ; total, 73.
