POLITICAL.
Auckland, Feb. xr
Reference was made by Mr Massey at Te Aroha last evening to the recent labour unrest and the Government’s and Opposition’s attitude towards it. He declared that there were going to be two main parties in the future. On the one hand there would-be the Reform candidate (really a Progressive Liberal) and on the other aSocial Democrat “ Red ” Federatiouist and his supporters. The men who had called themselves Liberals in past years would have to choose between patriotic Reformers and a set of men who, if they had the opportunity, would make New Zealand the first Socialistic Republic in the Pacific.
The Prime Minister closed with a promise of a vigorous public works policy, and was loudly cheered on resuming his seat.
