A FATAL FIRE.

Wellington, Feb. 6.

A private boardinghouse in Dixon Street, occupied by L. Bolton, was gutted by fire about 8 o’clock to-night. Subsequently the charred remains of a man were found. The man was James Martin, aged 27, son ol the landlady, Mrs Bolton, by a former marriage. Bolton and his wife state they left the house at 7.15 p.m. and all apparently was safe. The building was owned by Mrs Townsend, of Auckland.
