A meeting of the stewards of the local Racing Club was held last night, when certain business in connection with the recent meeting was taken in committee. A moonlight up-river excursion is to he held to-morrow night. The launch Tauiora will leave the wharf steps at 6.30 o’clock for the top of the long reach arriving back about half past eight. On Sunday the launch will make a trip to the Beach, leaving at 2 o’clock and returning at 5 p.m. Mangaweka townsfolk show a fine spirit of unity in social affairs. Arrangements have been made fora united church picnic in which all the churches are to heartily co-operate. This spirit could, with adventage be copied in other small communities. While all sect are making for the same haven by different routes, ’tis a pity that the social fences are so high.
