CRICKET.

The Horowhenua Cricket Association is this year running both a Saturday and a Wednesday competition. The mid-week competition was commenced last Wednesday, Y.M.C.A. defeating Tevin. Yesterday Foxton played their first game in the competition defeating Y.M.C.A. by 21 runs. The weather was none too good for cricket, rain falling almost throughout the home team’s innings, but cleared when Foxton commenced to bat. Y.M.C.A. were disposed of for 33 runs, none of the batsmen reaching double figures. The bowling of Wilkes and Howe was good.
