HORSE FLESH AS A CURATIVE. During a recent discussion on Continental traffic in decrepit horses at a meeting in London oi the Horses and Drivers’ Aid Com* mittee. Dr, Charles Reinhardt said the men engaged in the traffic were often the scum of the earth, and they sold for £8 or £9 what they bought at 30s. To remedy this the coammtee thought the best way would be to make it illegal to export any horses of a less value 1 than £lO. Medical men in France and on the Continent generally, were advocating the eating of horse flesh as a preventive and curative for certain diseases, and as horse flesh costs is 3d a lb., which was more than beef cost, it had been asked why we should not kill our horses and make sausages of them on this side, instead of exporting them and importing sausages made from them. He would not answer that nor express an opinion on horse flesh as a preventive and remedy for disease. Mr P. Wollerman, cabinetmaker and furnisher, is now offering an exceptional opportunity to the residents of this district to secure house furnishings at slaughter sale prices. Some lines below cost. An early call will secure the best of the bargains.* Wanted —The people of Foxtor and the surrounding districts tc know that A. de Luen, tailor, o: Palmerston North, will call on any one with samples upon the receip of a postcard.
