MR HOSKING ACCEPTS A JUDGESHIP.

Wm.UNGTON, Jan. 29

The Attorney-General (Hon. A. L. Herdman) made the following statement in connection with the judiciary to-day : The resignation of Sir Joshua Williams would take effect from the 31st of this mouth. Mr Justice Sim will relinquish the office ot President of the Arbitration Court aud will in future perform judicial duties only. Mr Hosking, K.C., of Dunedin, has been offered and has accepted the seat upon the Supreme Court Bench, which will have to be filled when the Judicature Amendment Act passed last session, comes into force on February 1. Who will be the new President of the Arbitration Court has not yet been settled. On this point he will probably be able to make a statement before the end of the present week.
