ENTERTAINMENTS.
FAMOUS EEL WO OD TRIO. TO-NIGHT. To-night local residents will be afforded an opportunity of hearing the Ellwood Trio, the clever company of instrumentalists who are at present louring the Dominion. This talented combination has been highly spoken of whereever they have appeared. In their entertaiumen to-night they will be assisted by Mr A. MacDonald, New Zealand’s champion elocutionist. The prices of admission are : 3s, as and is. municipal pictures. Saturday night’s programme can unhesitatingly lie recommended as a most attractive aud interesting one. The star film, “The Robbery at the Inn,” is one of the most exciting plays ever presented, telling its thrilling story in a most convincing manner. It tells how Mrs Desmorel takes a sum of money with her from home to a distant town in answer to a letter she presumes has been sent by her husband. The letter has been forged, and Mrs Desmorel is afterwards involved in a perplexing imbroglio of errors, which incidentally result in her arrest on circumstantial evidence for a crime at a wayside inn. How her release and the tracing of the actual criminal are effected make up a story with many ingenious twists and turns, holding the interest engrossed right up to the suspended disclosure. The other dramas are, “A Mutual Understanding,” aud j “The Adopted Brother,” the former being a life story of a man I falsely accused of a crime, while the latter is au exciting and highly dramatic story of immense popularity. The scenic, “The Gorges of the Bourne,” gives delightful views ot rugged, rocky ravines of j fame and beauty. The “N.Z, ! Animated News” is a very fine number of the Maoriland Illustrated Journal. The comics are, “The Youthful Detective,” a capital and captivating story featuring a juvenile Sherlock Holmes; “Those Good Old Days,” one of the well-known Keystone successes : “The Hard L'ase,” a rippling laughter-maker! aud a regular gloom dispeller of [ particular merit. ‘ The scenic, “Historic Oxford,” pictures multitudinous points o! great moment in and around the great Varsity centre. The final comic, “This Isn’t John,” is staled to be one of the funniest of funny films ever presented by the Lubin Company, The whole programme is one of exceptional merit, and should commend itself to all picture lovers.
