THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner cabled at noon yesterday as follows ; The Manila hemp market is active at higher prices, chiefly owing to brisk demand from U.S.A. Fair current Manila, .£2B 10s ; forward shipment ; output for the week 9,000 bales. The New Zealand hemp market is firm, offerings very small, but good business done at second band. Good fair, ; fair, £24, these quotations nominal ; JanuaryMarch good fair, £ 26 53 ; fair, £24 ss. The tow market is quiet, but demand expected to increase shortly. Second grade, ,£ll 17s 6d ton ; third, ,£lO 17s 6d. Sisal market is firmer. New York quotations cents equal to £27 to £27 10s c.i.f. Europe.
