SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary meeting of the Foxton State School Committee was held ou Thursday night. Present; Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Betty, Hussey, Alex. Speirs, T. Henderson and S. Read. Correspondence was read from the Education Board notifying the resignation of Miss Bray as pupil teacher; that the school would be painted some time in February ; and asking lor further details in respect to list of books lor school library. —The Chairman’s action in getting the school tanks cleaned out was endorsed. A number of accounts were passed for payment! It was resolved to hold the school picnic in the Ashhurst Domain ou Wednesday, February nth., the arranging of the special train was left in the hands of the Chairman. It was decided to invite tenders for catering from Messrs Perreau and Walls for a minimum of 300 children at per head, the committee to supply hot water and milk. Mr Geo. Coley was appointed collector. It was resolved to ask the business people to close on the day ol the picnic. Mr Betty resigned the secretaryship, owing to pressure of business, and it was decided to offer the position to Mr F. D. Whibley. The Chairman and Mr Betty were authorised to sign cheques. Messrs Alex. Speirs and Read were appointed visitors for the month. It was decided to bold a special meeting on the 29th inst.
