WOOL SALE.
AT INVERCARGIEE. Invercargill, East Night. The first wool sale of the season was held here to-day, 9541 bales being catalogued. The sale- was most spirited buyers’ reserves’ being exceeded in most instances by from a halfpenny to a penny. Very few bales were passed. The prices obtained for medium aud inferior classes were slightly advance of late rates. Continental and Bradford buyers were the principal operators aud purchased 90 per cent of the wool offered.
American buyers were not operating to any extent. Bright aud fine wools and halfbred were particularly in demand at improved prices but ordinary crossbreds showed comparatively only a slight improvement.
