HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A well-attended committee meeting of the above was held last night. Mr Witched (president) occupied the chair. It was decided to pay out for birds’ eggs at the spring show, if collected within the stipulated radius, j and provided no fresh evidence is forthcoming to the contrary during the next fortnight. The following judges were appointed for the autumn show : Pot plants aud blooms, Mr Weightman with Mr Nairn as substitute ; fruit, vegetables and farm produce, Mr Shailer ; dairy produce, Mr P. W. Brown; cookery aud home industries, Mr F. C. Smith; decorative, Mrs Hume. Messrs Kempster, Newth and the President were appointed a sub-com-mittee to go into the general affairs of the society, with a view of bringing forward auy suggestions tor the improvement of same. It was resolved to allow the conditions re distance limit for sweet pea trophy stand over till next meeting.
