ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Thames, Dec. 27.
Tutchen, the rider of Manaia in the Steeplechase at the Thames meeting, sustained concussion uf the brain and a broken shoulder. When be fell, the horse continued on the inner course, and as the others finished on the racecourse proper, knocked down two Thames girls, Misses Tilsey and Wind. The former was seriously hurt, sustaining concussion of the brain and minor injuries. Miss Wind also suffered concussion of the brain, but her condition is not serious.
Auckland, Dec. 28.
John William Hall, aged 40 years, a widower and a recent arrival, was found floating in the Manukau Harbour on Saturday. He had been missing since Christmas Day. His neck was broken, apparently from falling from the wharf. At the inquest a verdict was returned of accidentally killed. Dargavh.ee. December 28. A young man named C* Priestley, aged twenty-two years, was drowned at the coast to-day. The body was not recovered. There are no particulars of the occurrence. Blenheim, Dec. 29. Annie Louisa Eves, aged 32, was found drowned in a pool of water behind the residence of her father, Mr J. C. Hooper, of Wairau Valley, on Christmas Day. Medical evidence showed that deceased was suffering from mystero epilepsy, and probably fell into the water when suffering from a fit.
Waipawa, Dec. 29
Nello Del Toso, aged twentyfour, a single mao, was bathing in the river with his companions yesterday when he suddenly threw up his arms and sank. The body was not recovered for an Deceased suffered from a weak heart and a sudden seizure was the cause oi death. Taumaranuj, Dec. 29.
H. De Vere Hunt, an elderly man and one of the early settlers of the King Country, was found drowned in the Ongarue river, near 'Eaumarunui, yesterday morn*, •ing.
Marton, Dec. 29. Qn Boxiqg Pay a middleraged man named Walter George Dentford was thrown from his horse at Marlon Junction, receiving a fractured skull. He died on Sunday morning. He leaves a widow and one child.
Auckland, Dec. 29. Harry Welford, a married man, aged 61, was injured at Tuakau on Saturday by his horse swerving on to the footpath and throwing him against a telegraph pole. He 1 received severe internal injuries £ from which he died yesterday.
