MUNICIPAL PICTURES
To-morrow night will sec one of the most attractive programmes submitted at the above Pictures. The film “ Ivanhoe ”, is of over 4000 feet and splendidly portrays Sir Walter Scott’s masterpiece, a tale that is so well known to all readers that there is no need to repeat it here. The second star film “Wamba” is a beautiful theme of Mother Love aud is magnificent, thrilling, sensational, powerful, pathetic and picturesque. It has been said that Mother Love might have heeu chosen for the title of this picture. Miss Eytou makes of Wamba a most likeable character, with all the passion of a tigress and the courage of an Amazon, also possesses a love for her baby that nothing can overwhelm, and which she lavishes on a little white girl placed in her charge, after her own little one dies. This little white girl, most capably played by “ Baby ” Wade, causes the real thrill ot the film in the second reel, when she seeks refuge in a hollow log, and is pursued by a huge man-eating lion. The other two dramas are “ The Runaways ” and the “ Evil thereof ” the former is an exciting love story told amidst a scenic setting
of luxuriant landscape. Beautifully photographed and breathing an atmosphere of gallantry and passion. The latter is one of Edison’s fine human dramatic stories, lull of power, pathos and a purpose. Both lbs scenics “ The river Cobra ” and Jura ; an excursion to the Alps ate of marvellous merit. The Pathe Gazette is a welcome arrival of all the latest European mail. Most interesting and entertaining will be found the “ Uses of dynamite.” Though only two comics appear on the. programme, “ Bunny’s dip into Society ” and “ Simple Simon’s Disappearance” are both of such a nature that there will be ample amusement found in them to supply the needs of the most fastidious, as both John Bunny and Simple Simon are such popular favourites with all. A new orchestra has been engaged and the whole programme will be most attractive. THE PALMERSTON JESTERS. CORONATION HAEC, FRIDAY NEXT.
