CRICKET.
We are pleased to be able to report that at last interest is being evinced in cricket locally. This week two matches will be played on the Park pitch, one to morrow against a Levin team and on Saturday the first championship match will be played, the local team’s opponents being Shannon. The following team has been selected to play against Levin at the Park to-morrow. All players are requested to be on the ground at 2.30 o’clock : Redgrave, Bullard, Wilkes, Edlin, Mullins, Tullett, Stiles, J.Bowe, Kuewstub, Burgess and Negus. Emer,, Findlay. Saturday’s team is as follows : Redgrave, Cook, Claris, Stiles, Whibley, Burgess, Mullins, Howe, Edlin. Tullett and Yn-ng. Erner,, Edwards and Martin. Practices will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at 6 o’clock. In all future matches preference will be given to financial members. The team to represent Shannon on Saturday will be selected from the following: W. Tremewau, Quarrie, Harris, Doidge, Judd, Butterworth, Randall, Butt, Graham, Malcolm, Ross and Huggard. Mr E. J. King will accompany the team as umpire.
