ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE NORWOODS. On Monday night next, at the Town Hall, Foxton, Professor Norwood will commence a twonights’ season of mystery and laughter. Theatre goers who visited Palmerston on the occasion of Professor Norwood’s visit last year and saw his entertainment retain pleasant recollections of the Norwoods. A critic says: “Professor Norwood is a genius. To the theatre goer he is what the sun is to the earth. The electricity oozes out, as it were, from his finger tips, and imparts warmth and vigor to his audience, producing sunshine and showers in happy alternation. He says himself that it is the power of suggestion or impulse. It may be either or both. It is something, and the more one enquires into that something, the more bewil dered he becomes. The sight of a dozen strong, energetic men surrendering their will power to the Professor, and then performing antics which would put a circus clown to shame, is simply indescribable. ..... Miss Winifred Norwood was responsible for a remarkable performance while under hypnotic influence, performing wonderful feats of mental telepathy at the suggestion of several members of the audience. , . , The audience laughed so heartilv for two and a half hours that the consequences in some cases may be serious. Auyhow, the Professor, though taking all care, apparently accepts no responsibility in this connection.” Seats may be reserved at the Municipal Chambers. On Tuesday afternoon a young man will be hypnotised in Mr G. H. Stiles’ show window at 2 p.m., and will play the piano continuously until 7.30, when he will be taken to the Town Hall and awakened. It is explained that so strong will be his determination to continue playing that it would take four strong men to take him away from the piano to the Town Hall, where he will again be placed at the piano, ancj continue playing until awakened at 8 p.m.
