THE STRIKE.
JUDGE SUGGESTED AS ARBITER. Wellington, Nov. 26. A suggestion made in the House to-day by Sir Joseph Ward that Sir Joshua Williams be authorised to negotiate for a settlement of the strike, will probably be considered by the Citizens’ Defence Committee to-morrow morning. It is understood that the attitude of the employers will be that there is no need for the intervention of Sir Joshua Williams or anyone else in view of the fact that Arbitration Unions have been established in each centre, which are carrying out the work of the various ports 1 efficiently and that any men who desire to return to work can secure employment by becoming members of new Unions.
