ENTERTAINMENTS.
MUNICIPAL PICTURES. The matinee given on Saturday afternoon of free pictures for the children, was taken advantage of by a very large number of the young people as well as adults, while the programme for the evening was witnessed by a good house considering the counter attractions. A most fascinating programme is booked for Wednesday night. The star film, “The Clue of the Broken Finger,” of 3000 feet, is a wonderfully clever master play, dealing with the up to-date methods of criminal investigation, showing the hounding down of an innocent man and creating a great human story. This picture depicts in a vivid manner how an ex convict, although quite of the crime for which he is being pursued, is persecuted and hunted down by the police. Not once, but many times, does this daring man place his life in jeopardy iu his desperate efforts to evade capture. The other dramas are “Ah Sing—Hero” aud “While Ben Bolt Slept.” The former is one of the most thrilling and dramatic stories ever screened, while the latter, one of Edison’s ablest moral dramas, shows how a miracle occurs through a visitant appearing from the other world. “Pathe’s Gazette,” as usual, is full of up-to-date illustrations which keep us abreast with the times. The coloured scenic, “Pompeii,” deals with the relics of a great tragedy. The comics are “A Pullman Nightmare” and “Riley and Schultze,” the former beiug the shriekingly funny results of a dream iu a Palace car, while the latter is a most laughable Irish-cum-Dutch comedy.
