ENTERTAINMENTS.

TINY TOWN

THE WORLD’S SURPRISE

PACKET,

To night, Foxton will have the opportunity of seeing at the Coronation Hall “Tiny Town,” a company of remarkably clever midgets ; a circus in miniature, with liny strong men, acrobats, wire walkers, contortionists, clowns, dummies, to say nothing of 12 tiny ponies, and a vaudeville entertainment. Zeynard’s troupe includes Herr Alfonso, 35 inches high, a strong man ; Herr Hunle, a ringmaster, aged 24, height 34 inches ; Miss Honka, 24 years old, 34 inches high, circus rider ; Miss Paola, 31 inches high, aged 24, circus rider and dancer ; Miss Anita, 30 inches high, a wire walker, Herr Pompeo, bareback jockey, aged 29, height 35 inches; Herr Morello, contortionist, aged 19, height 34 inches ; Mr Fred. Juggler, aged 2t. height 39 inches ; Miss Hause Andre, comedienne, aged 34, height 38 inches ; and others. All these little people are perfectly formed, and do not in the least resemble dwarfs.

BARTON BROS’ CIRCUS AND WILD AUSTRALIA.

It is about twelve months since Bartons’ Circus last visited Foxton, The circus will play at Foxton for one night only, Saturday, November 15th. On the occasion of their last visit the troupe gave evidence of being somewhat above the average of travelling shows, and during the months that have elapsed they have maintained their reputation. Indeed, Bartons’ Circus on its present visit to the town brings even a better show —the result of careful selection in the world of equestrianism and general aienic art. Those who like to see a circus—and who does not ? should certainly avail themselves of the opportunity of doing so on Saturday night. Mr A. O. Wislang recently returned to New Zealand from a tour in search of fresh attractions, and so successful was his quest that a great improvement, it is stated, has been effected even upon its former good showing. The new organisation includes arttsts who have gained a big reputation in the principal centres abroad, the majority of whom have recently made their initial appearance in the Dominion under the Barton regime. Among the most conspicuous of the new performers are : The famous Ashton Company, consisting of six young lady acrobats and gymnasts; the Waldorf Troupe (eight in number) of white statue performers with limelight effect (direct from Fillis’ circus, South Africa) ; and Miss Ethel Ashton, sensational flying trapezist. Queensland Harry will ride celebrated outlaws at each performance, and will stake to ride any outlaw or buckiumper iu an English hunting saddle. A challenge of to all other riders is issued.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES,

As has already been slated the management has decided to give all children under 14 years of age a free matinee performance once every mouth. Parents or adults will be charged usual prices. A special programme for the children has been arranged, including part of the evening’s programme, but the star film will not be shown in the afternoon. The programme for the evening is most attractive. The star drama of 3,500 feet is a wonderful “Nord” picture, being an up-to date drama with an up-to-date plot with exciting spectacles of airship flights and fire scenes, namely, ‘‘The Fugitives.” Hilda, the daughter of Mrs Higgins, loves Eric, but her father has set his heart upon her marrying a wealthier man. The two youug people elope, and plan to leave the district by airship. Mr Higgins discovers the absence of his daughter and the method of flight. He despatches a cable, with the result that Eric is arrested on his landing and placed in an asylum. Hilda manages to convey ropes and files to him, and thus secures his escape. The two take refuge in a caravan, which catches fire. The horses bolt, and the conveyance is only stopped by the van toppling over. Eventually the lovers win safety and are married. The other dramas are : ‘‘Good lu The Worst Oi Us,” and ‘‘The Switch Tower.” The former is a fine Edison human story telling of life in the north west, and is natural and forcible and carries conviction to the most sceptical; while the latter is a thrilling big feature film being a powerful drama strong in plot and stirring situations, and dealing with a brave lad's heroism. “The Eclair Journal,” as usual is abundantly supplied with the most recent topical events. The sceuics are; “A Trip On a Japanese River,” and “Village Life.” The former is a fine Pathe coloured film of supreme beauty, depicting a delightful jouruey amid charming surroundings ; while the latter is a graceful illustration of a real rustic setting of interest and charm. The comics are. “The Looking Glass Man,” and “Lucky Cohen.” The former deals with reflected humour and is a real merry maker; while the latter is a real laughter maker, which will appeal to the audience as a whole. Both the programmes for the afternoon and evening entertainments are such as should be sufficient to entice goqd audiences on both occasions.
