HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A well-attended committee meeting of the above was held last night. The President (Mr H. Witchell) occupied the chair. The following judges were appointed for the forthcoming Spring Show : —Decorative class, Mr Stanley Hume (Newbury) ; pot plants, cut blooms, fruit and vegetables, Mr Shailer (Palmerston N.). The following Stewards were appointed : —Pot plants, Mrs Harvey ; cut blooms, Mesdames John Robinson, Healey, Misses Signal and Ross ; fruit and vegetables, Mr J. Newth ; cookery, home industries and dairy produce, Mrs Kempster and Miss Neylon ; decorative, Mrs Freeman and Miss Speirs ; needlework, Mesdames C. Robinson and Austin-Johnston; school work, Mesdames Mandl and Parkes ; miscellaneous, Mr Hornblow. It was decided to abolish the tea-room. Mrs Woods was appointed to take charge of the sweets stall. Messrs Henderson, Kempster, Newth and Whibley were appointed door stewards. Messrs Geo. Barber, Bullard, and Boyes are to take charge of the competitions. It was decided to ask the Borough Band and Orchestra to contribute a musical programme on Show night. After minor matters were attended to the' meeting rose.
