The latest Scotch-Jew story is told by Mr Harry Preston. A boy fell into the sea, and was only rescued after thegiea'.est difficulty by an intrepid swimmer, who dived off the end of the pier and succeeded in dragging the boy into a rowing-boat. Half-an • hour afterwards, much exhausted at his effort, the rescuer was walking off the pier, when the lad’s father tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Are you the man who saved my son Ikey’s life?” “Yes,” replied the exhausted hero. “Then, vere’s his cap ?” said the Hebrew in indignant tones.
