LOCAL SHIPPING.

On account of the Wellington strike, shipping from that port to Foxton is at a standstill, the usual trader, Queen ol the South, being, together with the other vessels, anchored in the Wellington harbour. Consequently no general merchandise can be lauded Iron Wellington, except by rail, which means a big increase in the cost, and merchants have to draw their supplies from the South Island. Two vessels, the Wootton and Kairaki, are due to-morrow from Eyttelton with general cargo, the former with 150 tons and the latter with 400 tons. The Kennedy sailed this morning for Nelson with cattle, and the Moa arrived with coal from Westport. The Waverley is also due from Westport to-morrow with coal.
