METHODIST CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the Foxton-Shannon Methodist Circuit took place at Foxton on Wednesday afternoon. The following members were present: —Rev. T. Coatsworth, Mr J. Crawford (Home Missionary), Messrs G. H. Stiles (Secretary), M. H. Walker, W. Bullard, G. Honore, J. Chrystall, S Reade, T. Gibson, E. Judd and J. Petersen. The Rev. C. Albernethy (Woodville), who was oa a visit to Foxton, was associated with the meeting. The Rev. T. Coatsworth presided. Three names were added to the member’s roll and it was decided to report to the Synod an increase pf six members. Thirteen members had during the year been transferred to other circuits so that the increase in membership was considered satisfactory. The finances for the quarter came up well at both ends' of the circuit, there being a deficiency of a few shillings only on the quarter’s working. The matter of visiting two districts with a view of establishing services there if possible was ..left in ihe bands of the minister to be dealt with as soon as convenient. The question of raising the salary of the superintendent minister gave rise to considerable discussion and decision on the matter was deferred to a future meeting. The matter of ministerial supply for Foxton tor 1914 was dealt with as the Rev. T. Coatsworth will then have completed the usual three years term on the circuit. Arrangements were made for holding anniversary services at Foxton and Shannon during the coming quarter. The Rev. T. Coatsworth, Messrs G. H. Stiles (circuit steward) and Mr J. Crawford (Home Missionary), will represent the circuit at the Annual Synod to be held at Hastings in November. All officials were reelected and the next meeting was appointed to be held at Shannon on the first Wednesday in January, The meeting was closed with prayer by the Rev. C. Albernethy.
