OFFICIAL RETURNS.
Figures compiled by the Department of Agriculture shew that during the month of August the total number of bales of •hemp graded was 8153. as compared with 4431 for the corresponding month of last rear, an increase of 3722 bales. For the twelve months ended August 31, 1913, the number of bales grad'd was 154.249, as compared with 91,160 .w me previous twelve months, the increase being 63,083 bales. Details of the grading arc as under; —

During the month 2545 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 1139 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 1406 hales. For the twelve mouths ending August 31st, 1913, the number of bales graded was 53,671, as compared with- 25,388 for the previous twelve months, the increase being; 23,283 bales. Tim details are:
