ENTERTAINMENTS.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES

Once again the Coronation Hall was well filled to see the above pictures on Saturday night last. The prolonged applause which was continually given was ample evidence that the programme met the wishes of the audience. For Wednesday night the Management announce another most fascinating set r oLfilms. The star drama, " Shadows of the Night, is a film of 3000 feet long and is a clearly constructed and cleverly produced detective drama, which stirs the blood and all the characters live, move and are distinctly unique. The other two dramas are ‘‘The Little Organ Plaver of San Juan ” and " Confidence.” The former is a story rich in melodramatic power, real beauty and originality, being one of the popular Selig productions. The latter is a powerful drama of love and excitement, the atmosphere which pervades it being distinctly exhilarating. ‘‘ Pathe’s Topical Gazette” needs no description as they speak for themselves. The comics which arc two in number are of the sort which will be the means of producing laughter. “The Rest Cure” is a fresh, stimulating and wholesome comedy, it is so gay, so-good-humoured and so lull of the influence of youth and beauty, telling how a widow and her three daughters all catch husbands by making her daughters all nurses and opening her house for patients for the rest cure. “ The Volunteer Strike Breakers” may be called a merriment film as it shows many humorous sidelines on the hotel waiter’s strike and will cause endless amusement. The scenic film, “Customs of Lapland,” is an educational picture of more than passing interest and will be well worth seeing by young and old. The above programme is of such a varied sort that lovers of all sorts of pictures will do well to roll up when they will be just as well satisfied as they have been all along with their Municipal Pictures and continue to show that they appreciate what is being done for their requirements by Municipal enterprise.
