Mitchell’s team defeated Hennessy’s by two goals to one ; Bryant’s team defeated Edwards’ after an extra five minuies by thre; goals to two. The final was a very willing go between Mitchell’s and Bryant’s teams, the latter finally winning the laurels by two goals to nil. The winning team comprised, Messrs Bryant (captain), E. Walker, H. Stunell, E. Westwood and W. Currie. The pick of the players was undoubtedly C. Edwards, who played with great skill and judgment. Before and after the tournament general skating was indulged in. During the evening the Borough Band discoursed a programme ot music which was much appreciated by skaters and the audience. The medals will be presented to the winners at the carnival, which is to be held on Thursday next.

The Municipal skating rink will be open on Monday night at 7 p.m. for general skating. At 8.30 a ladies hockey match will be played, practice of Grand march at 9 p.m. This will be the last opportunity of practice before the Carnival. The number of valuable prizes at the Carnival should enlist keen competition including a number of skaters from Palmerston and Levin. The costumes judging will be by popular vote. When purchasing tickets each one will receive a voting paper, which will be collected at 9 p.m., and the result announced. A full band will be in attendance, and the supper room will be in the capable hands of Mr M. E- Perreau.
