MUNICIPAL PICTURES.

The programme which has been secured by the management for Saturday night is another of superior quality and should draw the same large audience as that which attended .last Saturday. The total length of film is 7000 feet, and the star drama “By Unseen Hands ” which is 2270 leet is stated to be a weird and fascinating detective drama which is full of life, action and dramatic interest having vigour and power of illusion about it that raises it quite above the level of the ordinary picture of adventure and thrills. It is cleverly acted and portrayed. The other dramas are “ The Boomerang ” and “ The Death of Lucrece.” The former is an appealing story of what children’s love can do. “ The Death of Ducrece ” is a powerful / one from old history and lends itself to elaborate staging, mounting and dressing. To those who have read the charming tale of ancient Rome it will appeal with with double interest. The educational film, “Friends of the Birds,” shows what is being done for the preservation of the beautiful and harmless wild birds. The comics are four in number and whether it be the trick film of mirth and mystery, “Contranand His Accomplice” or. “Tweedledum’s Ma-in-Daw,” each,one can be depended upon to be one that will give the utmost satisfaction to the audience. “Stage-struck Sally ” is a clever comedy, in fact a real hit. The whole programme can be recommended as one that will please the audence. ,

HAYWARD’S PICTURES. There are four good dramas to be screened at “ The Royal ” on Saturday, namely : —• ‘’The Mystery of a Grandfather’s Clock,” “ At the End of a Line,” “Where Destiny Guides,” depicting Virgie’s father who, before dying, is asked that Dick Connor marry his daughter. Virgie, overcome with grief gallops away into the mountains. She is picked up by Ranchman Lee and his wile, with her memory gone. A Mexican makes love to her and Virgie resents it. Dick calls at the ranch and then learns what has become of his wife. She does not recognise her husband, but later her reason is brought back Jq her. The star drama, “ Broke# depicts a young womajti who leaves her brutal husband and seeks employment in a distant town. The husband goes from bad to worse. Finally he reaches his wife’s new home as a hunted outlaw. The wife hides him from the sheriff who is now her lover, but the husband meets his deserts at the sheriff’s bauds and a new life is opened up for the woman. The scenics are “The Tombs of Cochin-China” “ Tour of Bergen Dandah ” and that popular ‘ ‘Australian Gazette” - and some good comedies will be screened.
