CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l should be much obliged i£ you would kindly publish the ensuing correspondence which has passed between the Town Clerk and myself.—Yours faithfully. R. E. Seeby. Shannon, July 3°. J 9i3The Town Clerk, Foxton.

* Dear Sir,— More than one person has told me that the report is current in Foxton that the house of Mr H. Greig, in Norbiton Road, is “one of the dirtiest in Foxton." As Mr Greig is at present in the Old Country, and as I am responsible for Mr Greig’s affairs in his absence, I should be much obliged if you would kindly let me know if there is any basis for such a rumour. Has the Health Inspector or any other of the borough officials reported adversely on the sanitation or cleanliness of Mr Greig’s house ? If such is not the case, I should be very glad if you would write and let me have a categorical denial of the report, as I cannot imagine there is any basis of fact for it, nor can I imagine how it came to be circulated. Thanking you in anticipation of a reply at your earliest convenience, —I am. Yours faithfully, R. E. Seebv, Shannon, July 23, 1913Mr R. E. Selby, Shannon.

Dear Sir,—l have to advise that in reply to yours of the 23rd instant, I asked our Inspector of Nuisances to gp and inspect the property alluded to in your letter, and he informs me that it is most cleanly—in fact, he states that anyone could eat their meals off the floor. —Yours faithfully, C. J. Kent-Johnston, Town Clerk. Foxton, 29th July, i 9 13-
