The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, July 29th., 1913. FILTHY BANK NOTES.
In. respect to the present epidemic, the Health Department has advised the public to take certain precautions to prevent the spread of the disease, but the hundreds of filthy, bank notes in circulation—a splendid germ spreading medium —is not mentioned. These vile and oft-times evil-smelling notes should be withdrawn by the banks when received and replaced by new ones. Banks operating in this country should be compelled to follow the Bank ot England in respect to the circulation of notes. One has only to think for a moment where many notes find a temporary lodgment iand the disease germs and filth they must come in contact with. Persons handling paper money cannot be too careful nowadays.
