TIAKITAHUNA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The annual congregational meeting of the above was held on Monday evening last, the minister, Rev J. M. Thomson, M.A., presiding. The severe inclemency of the weather prevented a large gathering of the congregation, but the meeting was hearty, and the various reports were of a highly satisfactory character. The Sabbath school report revealed a most successful year’s work, and very warm thanks were tendered by the congregation to the co-superintendents, Messrs H, D. McCully and Rockel, and to the efficient staff under them. Special reference was made by several speakers to Mr H. D. McCully’s long connection with Sabbath school work in the district, he being the first superintendent, and high commendation was given to bis good work in this connection. It was interesting to find present at the meeting two of that original class taught by Mr McCully. These have both been prominent members of the church committee for several years, and were re elected to that position later in the meeting. The managers’ report and balancesheet set forth substantial progress in finance through the current year. Both were adopted, aud a vote of thanks to the secretary and the treasurer, Messrs Richardson and Mathesou respectively, heartily carried. Hearty appreciation of the services of the choir, under Mr D. Rowlands, was expressed by the minister and members present, and special thanks tendered to the conductor and to the organist, Miss McEwen. The session report also revealed a happy position ol affairs, the attendance of the congregation being well maintained, and the interest markedly increased. On the motion of Mr H. D. McCully, seconded by Mr Matheson, it was unanimously resolved to place on record the deep satisfaction of the congregation with the services of their minister, Rev J. M. Thomson, M.A., high appreciation being expressed both of his pulpit ministrations and his pastoral labours. The three retiring members of the committee, Messrs Richardson, Voss and McEwen, were cordially re-elected. The secretary was instructed to convey to the Rev A. Doull, M.A., of Palmerston N., the thanks of the congregation for his arrangement of supply for them, and to the gentlemen themselves, who have rendered such excellent supply throughout the year. This concluded the business, and the meeting closed with the Benediction.
