WHALE WASHED ASHORE.

Duripg the heavy gale last night, a whale, measuring 40ft. long and 18ft. across, was washed up on the north beach, about a quarter of a mile from the local bar. The whale, when found, was high and dry on the beach and was dead.

Messrs Langley, Lawton and Pawson intend “trying the whale out” and if it is of the “right” sort will prove a very valuable find, as it will contain a large quantity of blubber and whalebone.
