MAORIS v. HOROWHENUA

The Maori representative team defeated the Horowhenua representatives at Levin yesterday, by 7 points to 6, after and interesting game. Drizzling rain fell from start to finish, but, nevertheless, the visitors showed fine passing capacity, and excellent judgment in line kicks. Horowhenua played well, and almost won the game, but, five minutes from “no-side” Rukingi potted a splendid goal for the Maoris, and placed them one point ahead. Horowhenua scored six points in the first spell, an unconverted try by Malcolm and a penalty goal by Nepia Winiata. The Maori team put ou seven points in the second spell, Grace scoring a try and Rukingi potting a goal.

The following junior team will represent Foxtou against Tainui at Weraroa on Saturday : Heuuessy, Andreson, Neville, Baker, Williams, J. and M. O’Reilly, W. and R. Coley, Stevenson, Edlin, R. Robinson, Tunnycliffe, Saville, Howe. Emer., Spring, McAllister. The coach will leave at 1.15 p.m. Sharp. All players are requested to roll up for practice on the racecourse at 7 o’clock to-morrow night.
