HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The Foxton Horticultral Society must be considered fortunate in the trophies, etc., presented to them. Exhibitors will be able to compete for the following at the Spring and Autumn Shows : Mrs Austin-Johnston’s trophy, for most points at Spring Show, to be won twice ; Mr A. S.
Easton’s trophy, for collection of six vegetables, Spring sown, potatoes, radishes, carrots, turnips, cabbage and peas, to be won twice ; Mr H. Witchell’s rose bowl, to be won three times ; Mr H. Witchell’s trophy, for decorative roses ; Mr Galland’s trophy, for collection cut blooms (5), for those who have never entered in cut blooms section before ; Mr A. Speirs’ trophy, for cottage garden ; Mr Just’s special, value 10s 6d, collection cut blooms, space 4ft. by 4ft. ; Mr Jackson’s special, 10s, children’s buttonholes, to be made at Show; Mr A. S. Easton’s Is, school work; Mrs Wm. Ross’ 10s 6d, points prize for sweet peas ; Mrs A. Ross’7s 6d, for pound cake; Mrs Witchell’s 10s, embroidery in silk ; Mr Wm. Ross’ trophy, for most points in cookery, to be competed for at the Spring and Autumn Shows and to be won three times.
The Autumn Show carries the following : —Mrs Greig’s trophy, for most points in cut flowers and vegetables, to be won three times ; Mrs Witchell’s trophy, for best rose ; Mr Just’s special, value 10s 6d, for collection of vegetables, space limit 4ft. by 4ft. In addition the Society have been promised the following donations : Mrs C. H. Symons, £l Is; Mr J. K. Hornblow, £l Is; Mrs Thynue, 10s 6d; Mr Perreau, a cake.
